I Was Wondering...

It seems like text-messaging is the big thing these days. That's what all the cool kids are doing. I'm not "with it" yet, but then, I never leave the house so...

Anyway, at the title implies, I was wondering something. In the future, do you think that verbal communication and written alphabets will be replaced with smileys?

Is it possible to hold an entire conversation using only these so-called "emoticons?" Will this be the universal equalizer? The new Esperanto?

It makes you think.

Yeah, it makes me think. It makes me think you a ol' man, yo! The only purpose of texting is..is...okay, I can't figure out hte purpose of texting on a TELEPHONE anymore than I could figure out the benefit of a walkie-talkie feature on your phone that was so how a year or so ago. I mean, it's a telephone. I cannot and refuse to be convinced its easier or faster to communicate through typing than talking. Unless you're in a movie theater or classroom,in which case there's something else you're supposed to be doing anyway!

Typed too fast, and didn't proof again. I meant so HOT a year ago, not so how. And my ubiquitous hte for the, which is like my trademark now.

U R 2 kwl. :-) ;-) Rilly.

Yeah, I don't think so. I'm too old for text-speak.

But text can be good. The bank account linked to my ATM card will text me if my balance gets too low (we set this up and picked how low is too low, not the bank). Very convenient.

And I text J. sometimes if he'll be away from his office in meetings a lot. He'll get the message faster than voice-mail, but I won't be interrupting if he forgot to turn off the phone.

Oh, and it's good when you have crappy cell reception...doesn't take as long a time to get the message out.
