Is it me, or is
Criminal the
ONLY good comic being published right now?! I'm serious! Last week I went to the comic store for the first time in a couple of months and I found
nothing else that interested me. Granted, there are a bunch of titles that seem to have nice artwork, but there was nothing that was calling out to me to be
read. What's up with that?!
Can
anyone out there suggest any comics worth reading?!? Please???

I have been reading FABLES for the last couple of months. The characters are well written and I am always entertained. I can lend you the trades if you like!
About the only comics I follow are The Goon and Hellboy. I was reading BPRD, but I'm sick of looking at Guy Davis' art, and John Arcudi writing does nothing for me. Josh Dysart wrote a fine BPRD yarn recently, though, that was drawn by Paul Azaceta, who was, eh, alright. And another recent Hellboy book was drawn by Duncan Fegredo and that was awesome! Finally, I picked up a graphic novel published by Slave Labour Graphics called PARIS, and that was just absolutely beautiful! There ya go.
Okay, I'm with you on all of that, Allen. I've gushed about Paris before, and even own a piece of original art

I really like the Hellboy books, and I've picked up single issues from all of the storylines you've mentioned. LOVE the art. My problem with Hellboy is only that I seem to be confused by the covers (which all look alike to me) and on several occasions, I've bought the same issue more than once because of it. One time I even bought the same issue 3 times thinking, for some reason, that it was new. Makes me feel cheated! I'm better off reading the trade paperbacks in this case.
Anything else out there?
Anyone???
Some of the stuff I read regularly is:
Rex Mundi
Jack Staff
Local
Conan Volume 0 "Born on the Battlefield"
Usagi Yojimbo
Walking Dead
Buffy Season Eight
American Splendor Vol 2
Grendel: Behold the Devil
Palookaville
Berlin
Age of Bronze
There is a book about a blind guy called Daredevil written by Ed Brubaker right now that's pretty good if you're into that superhero stuff. Although no longer published the collected Gotham Central is a good read. The aforementioned Berlin is a good read and I really like Optic Nerve.
Hope you find more comics you like.
Okay, these are some good suggestions, guys. I already read Palookaville and Optic Nerve. That is--when they come out once every couple of years! I'll always read Eightball, too, whenever there's a new one.
I guess I'm most curious about current monthlies or new graphic novels. I sort of read Local, but I kind of lost interest 4 or 5 issues ago. Used to read Jack Staff, so maybe I'll try it again on your recommendation, Jared. I'll also take a look at some of the others you guys have mentioned. I think I read the first issue of Berlin, but that was a while ago.
I guess there are some good comics being published, after all. Unfortunately, the ones I like best come out extremely infrequently! Criminal is still the best right now.
I read the first two Criminal trades but I don't think it's as interesting as their book "Sleeper" was.
Fables, Hack/Slash, Invincible, Walking Dead, and if you have a wowio account (and it's back up and running) Pistolfist. All amazing works and well worth the money.
